How to become popular on twitter? How to get more followers on twitter? This is a question I get asked a lot in my network marketing, sales training seminars and workshops. As we all know, twitter has become a compulsory part of our online marketing strategy. Almost every blogger, marketer & advertiser uses twitter to connect to their clients & prospects.
Like any other social networking site, networking on twitter starts with getting more followers. According to guy Kawasaki," There are two types of twitter followers we see; type1- who want more followers and type2- people who lie."
It's absolutely true that we all want a lot of followers to share our thoughts. Either you use twitter for business purpose or just for fun, you need people to share & communicate with.
You will find a lot of articles on web about getting more followers on twitter. Some of them focus on quantity where others prefer quality. According to me both are equally important. Quality drags quantity and vice verse If you are work in the field of sales & marketing, you must have heard the saying, “In order to marry a prince you have to kiss many frogs."
Let’s get back to the main topic of getting more followers on twitter. As I have stated earlier, In this article you will 10 easy steps to get both quality as well as quantity following. Steps 1-5 will tell guide you to get value following whereas step 6-10 will teach you the tricks and techniques to get more followers quickly and easily.
How To Get Value Following?
Step-1 Create an impressive appearance. If you don't want to be considered as a spammer, upload your real profile picture. Customize the background, colors and appearance of your profile page. Customize your design according to your brand or personality, as this is the first thing that creates an impression on your potential follower. Do not forget to create a unique username that can be remembered easily.
Step-2 Begin the conversation. Twitter is a place where people find & connect with people sharing the same interest. In order to gain value following you must be a value follower first. Search and add people you find interesting except celebrities. Re-tweet them, mention them in your posts. Send them DMs and try to solve their problems, if they ask you for advice.
Step-3 The importance of conversations. Twitter is like a real world, if you behave like a human being. Most of the people on twitter join the race of gaining more and more followers. There is nothing wrong in wishing and trying to get more followers, but do not forget the real purpose of using twitter. Try to interact with people. Try to know about them, about their likes and dislikes. Try to connect with them on other networks. Wish them happy birthday! good morning and good night in your tweets. In short, make them feel special. Treat them as real people instead of numbers with thumbnails.
Twitter can increase your sales
Step-4 Add value to the community. What do you have to deliver? This is the first question you should ask to yourself. Can you entertain people? Can you make them laugh? Can you cheer them up? Whatever is your specialty, just try to use it to add value to the community. Be yourself and deliver your unique product or service and in no time you will be a twitter king/queen.
Step-5 Be disciplined. Remember the saying, “Out of sight means out of mind". Tweet daily at a certain time. After a while people will start looking for your tweets on that particular time. I use twitter twice a day. In the morning I post my tweets and in the evening, I reply DMs and @mentions. I chose a tweet that inspires me, as the tweet of the day. I add it to my favorite list and re-tweet it 2-3 times. It helps my followers to appear on my timeline that tends to get noticed by other people who follow me. This is my way of thanking people who make an effort to post interesting tweets. You can develop your own style to appreciate your followers. I also follow back my followers because I believe that conversation is not an one way procedure.
After building quality, you should focus on getting quantity
Step-6 Use the combo tools; tweet attacks, social oomph and just unfollow. These are the tools I use to save time on twitter. They save a lot of time that I use to interact with my followers. Step-7 Use social media news list of tweeters who follow back their followers. You need to evaluate every single user of this list, because most of people included in the list don't follow back their followers anymore. Though it is a very useful list and you can gain at least 100 followers using this list.
Step-8 Use the apps like tweet adder and tweet deck. They are trusted and tested apps. You can increase the numbers quickly in no time. This apps cost you some money but they will completely satisfy you. They also prevents your account from getting suspend. They perform the function within the daily limit, determined by twitter.
Step-9 Follow everyone who has more than 1000+ followers. Follow some of their followers and they will follow you back. Register your account in twitter directories. Some people buy followers but I won't suggest you to do it.
Step-10 I am creating a list of accounts that follow back their followers. This list will be published on this blog very soon.
